CALLEJEROS (RAMBLERS) – We look away if we see them in our running through the streets, but they are not invisible, they are ramblers. The visual encounter with those people who live without a roof opens the gate to the intense repulsion of internally confronting that who we do not want to be, the shake in our feelings of security and comfort… when we see the personalization of failure. Street people have plenty of time to observe conventional society and give up much of our longed-for comforts in pursuit of their vision of freedom. They, in first person, document the fragments of their lives and their own spaces, claiming for themselves all that we do not want to see. Background. Conceptual basis: For two centuries, photography has changed both the way individuals view the world and themselves. Photography represents an artistic, flexible, universal tool that transcends linguistic barriers and has a double role in the form of art and documentation of reality, thus representing a free and fragmented (and therefore beautifully subjective) transcription of existence through an extremely personal experience, with the generation of different worldviews. Creative process: This project uses the photovoice method as a creative tool. The photovoice method acts through the identification, representation and recognition of a community. The creators of the images in first person are the protagonists themselves.
Paco Sanz, a health professional with a master’s degree in photography from the Universitat de València, he develops his photographic work from an exclusively artistic point of view. He bases his photographic growth in the emotion and subjectivity, the axes of his creative process. Interested in the dialogue with the spectator, the conceptual relations behind the sense of integration of the individual in society is central to many of his pieces. He develops research on artisanal and singular aspects of light registration using analogical techniques and alternative or natural chemistry. He participated in the Festival Intramurs 2017 in Valencia with the solo exhibition “Timbres. Individualidades en el colectivo” (Bells. Individualities within the collective). He has carried out different collective exhibitions, especially with the col·lectiu vuit, of which he is a part.
